Discover
the heavenly beauty of the land with its rushing rivers and lush forests. Langtang
National Park shows impressive landscapes, with more than 1000 plants, birds exceeding
150species of numerous other mammals. Designated a national park in 1976, the
Langtang valley is the second largest national park of Nepal. It is one of the
least crowded trekking destinations. A trek to this isolated region offers an
opportunity to explore ancient villages, a wide range of animals (wild dog, red
pandas, pika, muntjac, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan tahr, ghoral,
serow, rhesus monkey and common langur). Culturally it’s rich in many artful
monasteries. One can climb famous peaks and visit glittering ice lakes or glorious
glaciers at comfortable relatively low elevations.
Short Description of Langtang Valley
Trek
On our trek we start in the lower
Langtang Valley, trekking through its
forests and among the villages and
farmlands of its people, many of who are
of Tibetan origin. Once an important
trading route with Tibet, this influence
is reflected in the character of the
villages and peoples. During part of the
trek you will be walking through
National Park, and though wildlife is
never easy to spot in a forest setting,
there are chances of seeing some
interesting animals and birds. Among
those found in the park are monkeys,
musk deer, pika and the national bird of
Nepal, the colourful danphe.
From Langtang village, the track
continues to Kyangjin Gompa (3,740 m).
This is the site of the Yala Cheese
Factory. There is a STOL airstrip at
Chhaldang, a short distance east of
Kyangjin. Visiting to the Yala Cheese
Factory (4.633 m) and the small lakes
beyond Yala are worthwhile. Yala can be
reached within half a day from Kyangjin
Gompa
From Kyangjin Gompa, a continuation to
the pastures of Langsisa (4.084 m)
provides the good views of numerous
glaciers. There are some huts in
Langsisa that can be reached within one
day's walk from Kyangjin Gompa.

LANGTANG
CIRCUIT
The Langtang region is closer to Kathmandu and a little less
populated than other trekking destinations in Nepal. We take you to the Langtang
Valley that lies just south of the Tibetan Border. Your trek starts from the village
of Dunche, walking on the open and fertile valley. Nepal's national flower, the
Rhododendron looks amazing with the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and photo
opportunities on this trek are endless. You will see and hear a multitude of birds
and might be able to spot other wildlife such as Wild Boar and Languor monkey.
As you move up the valley you will notice the Tibetan influence in the villages
and lifestyle of the people. The ascent up to Tserko Ri (4,984m) is a challenging
climb, however it offers some of the most spectacular Himalayan views and the
mountain passes are overpowering, which is a definite highlight of the trip! Another
option is to undertake a shorter walk up to Kyanjin Ri or walk further up the
valley. The pristine Gompa at Kyanjin is set in midst of the Himalayas and the
views from all directions are phenomenal. Our relaxed itinerary allows for
two days at Kyanjin where we you are able to acclimatize yourselves to higher
altitudes as you trek up to Langshisha Kharka for a glimpse of Tillman’s
Col and the peaks near the Tibetan Boarder. You might also be able to climb Tserko
Ri a relatively easy trekking endeavour, which offers unrivalled views of the
high summits.
After
Kyanjin Gompa you will spend the next few days trekking over the magnificent Ganja
La (5400m. /17712ft), a challenging pass situated on the flank of the Naya Kang
(5846m. /19175ft) where high camp is set up on grassy meadows at the foot of the
pass before you make the crossing. The last few meters of ascent to the prayer
flags on the pass require a modest amount of scrambling, though it is not difficult
at any stage. Fabulous views of the Ganesh and Jugal Himal peaks greet you as
you traverse across to the delightful Helambu region. Gentle trekking through
pleasant Sherpa Villages provides a relaxed conclusion to your journey.
Note:
Should the Ganja La be impassable due to snowfall, you can cross into to Helambu
via Gosainkund Lake and the Lauribina La.
